Time to Share my World again on Cee’s superb Blog.
If you could be a tree or plant, what would you be?
I would choose to be a Banyan Tree, which is in the Fig family. I would grow for centuries & produce aerial roots, vines, giant leaves, anything that tickled my fancy & allowed by Mother Nature. I would produce lots of fruits that would feed the birds & the bees, provide refuge to animals against predators, provide shade & resting spots to people & allow children to climb, play hide & seek & enjoy their childhood.
If you could have a servant come to your house every day for one hour, what would you have them do?
Hand-wash the dishes & clean the kitchen. To use the dishwasher when only a quarter-full is, to me, a waste of energy & water. On the other hand, I dislike daily grease & soap on my hands for 2 glasses, 2 cups, 2 plates, 2 bowls, a couple spoons & chopsticks or forks, a couple of small pots/pans each time I prepare a meal. I like cooking, but don’t like kitchen cleaning.
If you could have an endless supply of any food, what would you get?
Vegetables! I can live on just vegetables, that’s why I’m trying to grow a food-forest.
What was one of your first moneymaking jobs (other than babysitting or newspaper delivery)?
Typing legal documents for a group of lawyers. That’s when I knew I didn’t want to be a lawyer ~ the paperwork was just too boring.
Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
Grateful for all that rain ~ soaking rain, followed by sunshine. All the plants no longer looked sun-baked… not perfect & fruitful yet, but they are definitely greener and happier.
In the coming week I will be tidying my the garden mess, mulching almost all planting beds & pots with hay, moving all gardening tools & outdoor furniture into the garage & preparing my hurricane shutters. I’ll even happily wake up at an ungodly hour to head for Orlando, to make that looong journey (30 hours including transit time) to Singapore ~ the land of my birth ~ to meet friends I’ve known for decades & to pay respect to my parents’ ashes.
