Florida – the land of insects! With the warm weather approaching it will be like the Charge of Bug Brigade. So to kill or not to kill, that is the question (for me).
Today a new sign appeared. It looked like a cotton ball or a thick ball of soap foam stuck on the underside of a papaya leaf. It’s the first time I’ve seen a thing like that.
I decided to practice some self-control and do some checking before any drastic action. Patience did pay in this instance ~ it turned out to be a cocoon of a good bug. *whew, relief*
This is the cocoon of the Braconid Wasp. Yes, it will help me to get rid of some of the caterpillars that are devouring the leaves of my tomatoes, sweet-potatoes, beans, u-name-it.
Another notch in my learning curve of insects… so now to observe and note what will emerge from this white cotton looking puff.
