DP Weekly Photo Challenge: Close Up (Take 2) Don’t Get Bamboozled

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Close Up.”

It is such a nice warm brown shade, so furry, so strokeable … is it my new pet?

Nice sheen & warm chestnut brown

Nice texture of fine fur

Fine textured fur, right?

So, what is it?

Beware!  Touch it and you’ll never forget NOT to touch it bare-handed again.

My Twin Peaks - not often seen close up.

There it is with its mother plant ~ the Bamboo

This clump of Bamboo ~ the Bambusa Oldhamii ~ is grown specifically to create my own Bamboo Wall, a windbreaker of sort against hurricanes coming from the East.

But, I sometimes dig up a shoot or 2 to be used in the kitchen. Did you know they are excellent in Hot Sour Soup?

I just could resist taking these shots when I walked around this morning with coffee in hand & camera in pocket.  😉

  3. I have often wondered if bamboo would grow here in the UP. We have long winters. I would love to grow some though.

  4. I haven’t used ‘Bamboozled’ nor heard it used for years. Used to be one of my favourites when I felt confused, which was often. Great images of the bamboo. I have a mate in the Northern Territory who has it in abundance and loves it.
