My new project with Mycelium

Mycelium sounds very biological, doesn’t it? Like something present in a laboratory.  Actually it’s fungi in the eco system, present all over.  In layman’s language, I’m beginning another adventure trying to grow my own mushrooms ~ Shiitake for a start.  (My 1st attempt last year with Portabello did not work, so might as well try another said to be simpler to cultivate.)

To neaten our oak trees this year, we got the neighborhood arborist to do a professional job and saved some of the mini-logs and branches. I scouted the internet again and bought some mushroom spawn plugs  … then this past weekend, the drilling, stuffing and waxing was carried out with no hitches.

Neatly stuffed and sealed.

Now, the waiting begins.  Fingers crossed.

  1. Do you envy how easily nature does these tasks you labor over? ;o) http://judydykstrabrown.com/2015/08/24/one-no-trump-jnw-prompt-generator/
