  1. Is this just the spider in his web or is the white part his prey? Do you know what type of spider and if there is prey, what it is? Such a spectacular shot but I have questions, as usual!

    • It’s a spiny back orbweaver spider. I’m not sure what has become of me, I don’t scream at spiders & snakes anymore ~ I talk to them 🙂

      • I had a two or three week intensive with a golden orbweaver spider. Fascinating…Especialy the heavier weavings that extend out from where their legs are on the web. My interpretation was that it was extra web to quickly wrap up their prey in case of need. My spider looked very different from yours, though. I thought it looked like an African mask. You can see it on my blog.

      • I love both spiders and snakes if I’m not in direct contact with them.

  3. Great photos! Thanks for letting us know what that little spider is. I see them in our backyard (Florida) and had no idea what it was. Just that it’s most unusual! And I’m only nervous about spiders and snakes if they move or disappear! LOL! 😆
