I got a taste of American History (Part II)

How can American History featuring keen soldiers (some of whom are history teachers!) re-enacting old soldiers’ rest camps, be complete with some good old American military music, right?

To top off the entire chance encounter I actually got to speak to the Ladies!! Oh those charming beautiful ladies in their real old preserved attire.

She kindly allowed me to check the buttons and hemline … and even the petticoat! I discovered something new which stunned me ~ the petticoat actually holds a hoop! I was so engrossed in the hoop and how it was stitched to the petticoat, I totally forgot to ask permission to take a photo of it. *sigh* I’ve always wondered how the round, ever-puffy skirt kept its shape & now I know. Better (knowing) late than never, right?

Couple engrossed in watching something so I didn’t interrupt to check her hair net.

We left the park/campsite with real hunger ~ triggered by the aroma of the beef stew slowly simmering away…
