The Return of the Hawk

Friend or Foe? I don’t know …

On the oak tree in the front yard.

On the oak tree in the front yard.

The beak looks vicious!

That beak looks vicious!

See what I once caught a hawk doing & continued doing while I was clicking my camera.

Beautiful carnivore.

Half an hour later as the sun was setting …

I kept hoping all those little chirping birds would stay away from my birdfeeder while this Red Shouldered Hawk was around, but I could not resist taking some shots while (s)he stood there, just about 20ft from where I was sitting – me enjoying my cold beer while (s)he was … food hunting? resting? mate seeking?

What a face!

What a face!

  1. (S)he is absolutely magnificent. Great pictures. It is sometimes hard just to leave nature …. well, to nature and not to intervene. I hope, though, that your little birds stay safe.
